Details: Prodiatera- UNION FOR PROPHYLAXIS, DIAGNOSIS AND THERAPY OF BREAST CANCER is non-profit, professional organization actively involved in breast cancer eradication in Poland. The organizations that counts around 200 nurses and 30 physicians, has developed and introduced in Poland breast cancer screening program utilizing mid-level medical personnel and because of the professional background of its members is involved in research as well as training in clinical breast examination (CBE) and in the BSE educational techniques community and gynecological nurses, who perform breast cancer actions across the country. As a part of its breast cancer awareness activities, Prodiatera is involved in creation and publishing of patient and professional educational materials and brochures. The organization cooperates with national women and cancer advocacy groups as well as is active internationally. The ultimate goal of the organization is develop standards for educational programmes addressed both to medical profession and women at large as a part of the cost effective breast cancer preventive program and to built and operate comprehensive breast cancer centers in Poland. From 2001, Prodiatera trained 200 nurses - breast health consultants and 25 breast health instructors as well as has surveyed and performed prophylactic examinations of approximately 13,000 women in Poland, and has made possible the effectuation of 4,600 free mammographies.
